Baronscourt compliment EMC at seminar series.
Belfast & Dublin June 2005, In a recent seminar series designed to highlight the legal and regulatory obligations that commercial and public organisations have in relation to document retention and policy communication; industry heavy weights Taughan's Solicitors in Belfast and Landwell Solicitors in Dublin in conjunction with EMC Legato and Baronscourt Technology gave an executive briefing to attendees from industry and government.
Following close on the heels of the Audit Commission's report on IT Fraud and Abuse in the Public Sector, wherein government bodies were "urged to introduce clear policies for staff on computer use, to educate them on security risks and to introduce internal processes to protect data", this seminar series proved very timely and relevant to the people from HR, IT and Finance who attended.
"Most companies have introduced technology to stop outside people intruding or hacking corporate systems or they have installed software to stop employees doing things they should not. The report and these seminars highlighted the problem that these technology solutions lead to complacency and that companies should not relax their vigilance in relation to their ongoing responsibility to keep their own people up to pace and fresh with the latest policies". commented Anna Kelpie of Baronscourt.
Both seminars in Belfast and Dublin ended with an active question and answer session which showed that compliance is still a topic that organisations are heavily researching.
